Of Giant Snakes, Wide-Eyed Primates, Heart Candles

I was a fourth year college student then. I had to work part time every now and then to have extra money for my occasional wants. It was also that year when we were in the peak of holding revival series for young people and during that time we were called to hold one in Bohol. A dear lady with a heart for mission gave money for our fare. “If its God’s will, its God’s bill!” indeed. Most of us were students with only a sprinkling of working professionals.

Bohol is a quaint municipality, world renowned for its tourist spots as well as its flora, fauna and for housing the smallest primate. That's le primate down there. (The smallest one in the picture.lol )

Its capital is in Tagbilaran City but we were invited to Ubay, San Francisco. From our place, we had to take an overnight ride to Cebu City, push our stuff to the pier with boats going to Bohol. (This was a very long walk). We waited for awhile and by God’s grace, there was a boat going directly to Ubay. It was another four hour ride going to Ubay.

We lived in a “self-sufficient” house. They really practiced the principles of country living. Fresh fruits, vegetables, spices were in abundance, all organically grown! This was also where I learned to chop. Oh yes, learning how to cook has to start somewhere.
There weren’t a lot of young people then. Since some were still in school in other provinces. But it was not and it never really is about the quantity. We spent 3 days with them.

And they weren’t the only ones revived spiritually and mentally but us as well. That alone was God’s mission for us there and we felt fulfillment in doing it but apparently God wanted us to experience more blessings through the beauty of nature in that place.

First stop was the resort just nearby. The hills were stunning on the way and we just can't help but make a stop.

The Team!

With the world's largest python!

And of course, any Bohol trip would not be complete without the chocolate hills! (Which were lush green when we visited, though. )

Experience life with Christ!
